His childhood name was Narendranath Dutt. From a young age, Narendra was inquisitive, intelligent and fearless. He loved asking questions and never accepted anything blindly. While other children listened silently, Narendra wanted to know the reason behind everything. This questioning nature later made him a great philosopher.

Narendra was brought up in a cultured and educated family. His father, Vishwanath Dutt, was a lawyer who believed in rational thinking, while his mother, Bhuvaneshwari Devi, was deeply religious and strong-willed. Narendra inherited spiritual values from his mother and logical thinking from his father. This rare combination made him unique.

As a young man, Narendra often asked a bold question: "Has anyone seen God?" He was not satisfied with bookish knowledge or rituals. He wanted direct experience. This search took him to many saints and scholars, but no one gave him any concrete answers – until he met Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.

When Narendra met Ramakrishna at the Dakshineswar Kali temple, he asked his usual question. Ramakrishna replied confidently, "Yes, I have seen God as clearly as I see you." Narendra was surprised by this answer. For the first time, he met someone who spoke with certainty and love about God. Although initially skeptical, Narendra gradually began to accept Ramakrishna as his spiritual teacher.

Under Ramakrishna's guidance, Narendra underwent a profound spiritual transformation. He and his brother disciples lived a life of poverty, meditation and service. During this period, Vivekananda traveled throughout India as a wandering monk.

During the trip, he witnessed the harsh realities of Indian society—poverty, hunger, illiteracy and social injustice. He realized that spirituality alone is not enough; Service to humanity was also worship. This experience shaped his philosophy: "Daridra Narayan", which means serving the poor is serving God.

It  believed that India's decline was due to loss of self-confidence. He wanted to awaken the nation by reminding people of their inner strength. He strongly believed in the power of youth and often said, "Arise, awake and stop not until the goal is achieved."

In 1893, Swami Vivekananda traveled to the United States to attend the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago. Yet, destiny had something bigger in store for him. On September 11, 1893, Vivekananda stood before a huge audience and began his speech with the words "Sisters and brothers of America."

The audience was so impressed that they stood up and applauded him. In that moment, an unknown monk from India became a global spiritual leader. His speech focused on religious tolerance, unity and universal brotherhood. He talked about Vedanta and Hindu philosophy in a way that the Western world had never heard before.

After the Chicago address, Vivekananda became famous all over the world. He lectured throughout America and Europe and spread the message of harmony among religions. He showed the world that Hinduism is not a religion of superstition but of deep spiritual knowledge and scientific thinking.
